The dancers at the Lumber Yard in Des Moines received a special gift from the women at Eternity Church this December. Here is a note from the leader of that group, Jan!
"I love things that smell good, don’t you? That was one of the reasons the moms from The Living Room at Eternity Church decided to make this Citrus Vanilla Sugar Body Scrub as a gift for you…it smells SO GOOD! Massaging your skin with the raw sugar may feel a little strange at first, but the gritty material actually smooths away the rough, dry skin created by these harsh Iowa winters. The oils left behind from the scrub make your skin feel oh-so-silky and refreshed. Heaven!
As I enjoyed the sweet scent and renewing effects of this scrub recently, I recalled in the Christmas story that the Wise Men found value in their own sweet-smelling gift to Jesus. Along with gold and frankincense, they presented Jesus with something called myrrh, an aromatic resin from a thorny tree. People in Jesus’ day would mix the myrrh resin with oil to make perfume or use it as a pain reliever. But to access this wonderful, healing resource, the tree must be wounded repeatedly so that it bled what was needed.
This fragrant material poetically foretold that we would one day wound Jesus as well. That this beautiful baby would grow up and give himself to us to die on a cross, and that God would view the shedding of His son’s blood as payment for all we’ve done wrong. The Message Bible words it this way:
That’s what Christmas is all about. Celebrating God’s greatest gift to all of us: Jesus! So our prayer for you is that as you enjoy the refreshing scent and soothing oils of our small gift, you’ll find joy in remembering that Jesus has offered you a truly priceless gift—one designed to renew your mind, refresh your spirit, and heal your hurts.
With love to all at The Lumbar Yard,
